    Looks yummy!

  2. Samantha says:

How crucial would you say the ketchup is?? I'm not a fan at all and a cup seems like a ton but if it's noticeably different without the ketchup I can suck it up, lol.

  3. Lashele Warren says:

Can'5 wait to try this. I used to work @ Juniper Take Out in college & I loved that soup. It is even better the next day. You even got the ketchup. :)

  4. Diane Christensen says:

    I love this soup.

  5. Sandra says:

I'm making this for dinner right now! The only question I have is whether I start with 1 1/2 cups dry macaroni or if it's 1 1/2 cups already cooked :-? I'm going with dry, because i can always set some aside for another recipe...

  6. Cyd says:

In the ingredients next to elbow macaroni it says cooked. Hope you get this in time!!

  7. Cyd says:

May not be as thick if you don't add ketchup. Maybe you could replace it with an ingredient you like!

  8. Steph says:

Tasted like sloppy joes soup! It was way too sweet for my liking, but I liked it in general. I think I'll tweak it next time. Less ketchup and no brown sugar. Maybe plain tomato sauce instead.

  9. BEV says:

Making it tonight-- hubby thought the picture looked good!

  10. Nola says:

My Mother use to make something very similar to this recipe, she didn't use brown sugar, she used regular sugar, just a small amount to lessen the tang from the tomatoes. I love it, it's great on a cold day, plus it's quick and easy to make. It's also relatively cheap to purchase all the ingredients, with the exception of the ground Beef of course.

  11. Kathy says:

Made the soup for supper. Husband loved it. would not change a thing.

  12. Emily says:

Shut the front door. I CRAVE this soup from Juniper Take-out and I always wanted to re-create it. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

  13. Kris McMichael says:

My family absolutely loooooved this!!!! Thank you so much!!!

  14. nana says:

in your recipe there's written you should use ground beef, but there are chunks on the picture ? So which is it...

  15. ramona white says:

I know this is gonna sound strange but I think am gonna love this site. Your recipes sounds so good am making it tonight. I will post u tomorrow and tell how the ganged like the soup. ramona white

  16. Cyd says:

It's ground beef. When it is cooking you can naturally let it cook in clumps. Not breaking it all the way up. That is what we did.

  17. LaDeana says:

Fantastic ! Didn't have tha A1 but it was still fantastic

  18. Carly says:

Our whole family loved this soup! It was very good! It had really good flavor! We would even like it without the hamburger. We will definitely make it again! Great for cold day!

  19. smriti says:

I would deffinately try this out

  20. Valerie Thompson says:

This soup was filling a lot of flavor happening and I tasted a little of all the ingredients a great fall and winter soup . I have just added you to my face book and loving your recipes thanks

  21. renee says:

This is a great recipe! I did change a few things and next time I make I may change a few more, but it's pretty fabulous. Changes: I used 4 cloves of garlic instead of garlic powder, I used twice the amount of grated carrots, I used Italian sausage instead of ground beef, I used Italian seasoning instead of dried basil. I also went ahead and sauteed the onion and garlic with olive oil before adding the sausage to brown. Next time I'll probably use about half the ketchup and half the A1 and Worcestershire because it was a tad "saucier" than I like. Not bad at all, I mean I'm eagerly eating it as is, but I think I'd prefer it with a little less tang. Also want to add that I'm pretty sure this soup saved me from a pretty bad cold that I was trying to catch. I was feeling really crappy, sore throat, body aches, the beginning of a fever, and I ate a big bowl of this soup, which felt great on my throat, and next morning I was feeling waaaay better than I thought I would. So I say, better than chicken soup for a cold cure!!

  22. Barbara says:

Agree about the ketchup...all that corn syrup! I doubled up on the tomato paste and skipped the ketchup. It was fine.

  23. Barbara says:

Skip the ketchup and use two cans of paste. And just plain skip the brown sugar. In my opinion, just my two cents.

  24. Kirsten Heft says:

How many servings does this make...and what size servings? Thanks! Looks fantastic!

  26. Sally says:

Just made it & ate it! Yummy!! However, I agree just a bit too sweet. I won't toss it but do you think adding another can of tomato paste & some beef broth would help? Any suggestions...I'd appreciate it. Thank you! :)

  27. Lanette says:

Just fixed this for dinner. My family thought it was way too sweet. It was very hard to finish the bowl. Not sure what to do with the leftovers. I'd like to try it again but will use less than half the sugar and decrease the amount of Worcestershire and A1 sauces.

  28. Leigh Ann says:

I made this for dinner tonight. I didn't use the brown sugar and the soup was still way to sweet. If I make this again, I will use 1/4 cup or less of the ketchup.

  29. Leigh Ann says:

I made this for dinner tonight. I didn't use the brown sugar and the soup was still way to sweet. If I make this again, I will use 1/4 cup or less of the ketchup. My family just didn't care for it. I added more broth and another can of tomato paste, but this was not a winner for us.

  30. Laura says:

Yes, agree it is way too sweet. Family didn't like it. I would use tomato paste instead of ketchup and reduce or remove the brown sugar. I think that would fix the sweetness.

  31. Erin says:

Made this tonight. I skipped the brown sugar. Did 2 tablespoons instead of 3 for A1 and worcestershire. Did about 1/2 cup of ketchup and added about 2 tablespoons of mustard. I did add the optional carrots. Also, I added 5 leaves of fresh basil and let them simmer with the soup and removed when finished. I also used about 3 cloves of fresh garlic.

  32. Christal says:

We make this soup all the time, but ours is a lot simpler. Macaroni, ground beef, but we just mix it with tomato sauce and tomato juice, seasoned with salt and pepper, garlic, and onion if you want. I usually add onion salt or powder. Sometimes we add diced tomatoes as well, just depending on the mood. I will have to try this one though too, it sounds good! :)

  33. Bridget says:

Making this now but I was wondering could you also try to make Juniper's Cauliflower soup? I'd love to give that a try as well.

  34. Bridget says:

Ohh I forgot does it matter what kind of noodles is used, I was thinking of using Spaghetti O's instead Elbow noodles.

  35. Cyd says:

We have only made this soup using elbow macaroni.

  36. Dana Hulak says:

This soup is way way too sweet. Please review the recipe and reconsider the ketchup and brown sugar. I feel like I just wasted a bunch of great food.

  37. Rhonda says:

Just made this recipe today. Did not change a thing. It was a big hit with the whole family! Will be keeping and making it again!

  38. Carrie Peck says:

This was very good. I used 32oz off Beef stock instead of 45oz of beef broth. I liked the hardy taste of the A1 sauce and Worcestershire sauce.

  39. chris says:

This looks yum. I live in Australia and dont know what a1 sauce is. Can someone tell me please or can I leave it out.

  40. Cyd says:

A1 sauce is a steak sauce.

  41. Lindsey says:

Can you do this in a crock pot?

  42. Cyd says:

It should work just fine in a slow cooker.

  43. Kenn says:

I'm going to make this tomorrow, but I think I'm going to skip the ketchup and brown sugar and replace it with a can of condensed Campbell's Tomato Soup.

  44. Kelly says:

I was wondering if you could put this in a crockpot?

  45. Cyd says:

You could keep it on warm all day in the slow cooker after preparing it as directed on the recipe.

  46. Jean says:

This soup is fantastic! Thank you for sharing your recipes. Definitely making this again real soon.

  47. WillowG says:

Just the recipe I was looking for to use up leftover cooked pasta and chunky pasta sauce. So I followed the recipe with the exception of using the pasta sauce instead of the canned tomatoes, the ketchup, and the tomato paste and then did not use A1 or brown sugar. The grated carrots were a great addition but I also added some baby spinach for extra veggies. Topped with parmesan cheese. Thank you - great recipe that I'm sure will be made again!

  48. BJ Morton says:

I buy ketchup w/o high fructose corn syrup.

  49. Deehobbs says:

Where do u buy ketchup with out fritrose

  50. Sharon Deckard says:

Cant wait to try this. I love A1. It sounds so yummy. I'm always disappointed to see negative comments. Why do folks feel the need to do that.

  51. Donna says:

Can this be frozen? I made this for my husband. I didn’t add the burger and I only used 1/2 cup of ketchup I also used real garlic that I sautéed with the onions. I also left. Out the sugar because it was sweet enough. It was very good.

  52. Momma Cyd says:

Yes, it should freeze well in a freezer container.

  53. Diane says:

I'm trying to find the nutritional info - you mention in the comments to click on the "magic" button...but I don't see it! How many calories per serving?

  54. Momma Cyd says:

The MAGIC buttons have been gone for a long time. We are slowly adding nutrition facts to all of our recipes. I went ahead and updated this recipe. So the nutrition facts are now there for the Tomato Macaroni Soup. Hope this helps. This is for 6 servings with this recipe. If you get 8 servings, it will be fewer calories.

  55. Cheryl B says:

This sounds wonderful! I need a recipe to serve 70 tho!

  56. Momma Cyd says:

If you have a big roaster oven or borrow a few slow cookers, you could make multiple batches and keep it warm until ready to serve.
