Iced Sugar Cookie Recipe
We love baking for the holidays, and one of the best things that we make is sugar cookies. We have all sorts of cookie recipes but no matter what we make, we always have to make sugar cookies and Snickerdoodles. My kids love getting involved in the kitchen when it comes to cookies; they mix all of the ingredients, roll out the dough, and cut using star cookie cutters. My son's favorite part is frosting an iced sugar cookie and adding sprinkles. We hope that you love this Iced Sugar Cookie Recipe.
Iced Sugar Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 4 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 tsp oil
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 4 tsp milk
Directions
- In a mixer, cream together butter, sugar, eggs, soda, oil, and salt. Add in vanilla and mix well.
- Mix in flour and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Sprinkle flour on your cutting surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch in thickness. I use Pompeian Grapeseed Oil spray on my hands before cutting the dough.
- Cut with cookie cutters, spray a baking sheet with Pompeian Grapeseed Oil, place cookies on the pan, and bake at 350 degrees for 8-11 minutes.
- Let cookies cool completely before adding icing.
For the icing, mix powdered sugar and milk well with a fork. (For more of a thin glaze use more milk, to make it thicker like an icing add more powdered sugar). Add a drop of food coloring if the mood strikes. - If you would like a sparkly finish you can add sugar crystals to the top of the icing (I used silver). Just make sure you add them quickly before the icing hardens.
These cookies are also perfect without icing. They have a light taste of sugar and butter, so they don't need the frosting. We hope that you love this Iced Sugar Cookie Recipe. Happy baking!
